Delhi on Sunday reported the first case of new Covid variant Omicron. With the first case in Delhi, the total cases of Omicron variant has climbed to five in India. With four people who returned to India and three of their close contacts testing positive for Omicron in Pune, the total count in India is now 12.

UK reports 86 new cases of Omicron COVID-19 variant, total 246
Britain’s health security agency on Sunday reported 86 new cases of the Omicron variant of COVID-19, taking the total number identified so far to 246.
Omicron coronavirus variant found in about 15 U.S. states
The Omicron variant of the coronavirus has been found in about 15 U.S. states as of Saturday night but the Delta variant remains the majority of COVID-19 cases nationwide, U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Director Rochelle Walensky told ABC News on Sunday.
Omicron: One more case in Alandi, Maharashtra
Omicron in Pune: One found positive
- A patient was found positive for Omicron variant in Pune through routine surveillance.
- He had visited Finland from 18th to 25th November 2021.
- He was tested owing to mild fever on 29th November and was found Covid positive.
- He has taken both doses of Covishield vaccine and he is completely stable without any symptoms
Omicron in Pimpri-Chinchwad: Six new cases
- Three out of six have come from Nigeria and the rest are their close contacts
- 13 contacts of these three were traced and tested. The Omicron variant has been found in three contacts.
- One of them has mild symptoms and other five have no symptoms at all.
- Out of the six people, three are under 18 years of age and therefore have not taken
- any vaccine.
- The three adults have taken both doses of vaccine – 2 have taken
- Covishield and 1 has taken Covaxin.
- All these patients are being treated at the Jijamata Hospital in Pimpri-Chinchwad and are stable.

Delhi reports 63 COVID-19 cases, positivity rate up marginally
Delhi reported 63 coronavirus cases and zero deaths on Sunday, as the positivity rate rose marginally to 0.11 per cent, according to data shared by the city’s health department. With the fresh cases, the overall infection tally in the city rose to 14,41,358 while the death toll was 25,098. The number of active cases is 370, of which 144 are in home-isolation.
Nagaland: Internet, SMS services suspended in Mon district
A notification issued by the Home Department, Government of Nagaland, read, “Whereas, there is apprehension of grave law and order problems in Mon District, Nagaland owing to the prevailing situation created by firing incidents today, leading to the death of several persons in Tiru Oting village area under Tizit and Naginimora sub-divisions.” It further said, “Whereas Short Message Service (SMS), Whatsapp, Facebook, and other social media platforms could be used for spreading of rumours, fake news, and for circulating inflammatory texts, pictures, videos etc. which may inflame passions and thus exacerbate the law and order situation.”

Mob vandalises Assam Rifles camp, Konyak Union office in Nagaland
An angry mob allegedly vandalised an Assam Rifles camp and the office of the Konyak Union in Nagaland’s Mon district on Sunday afternoon as the situation remained volatile after 13 civilians were gunned down by security forces, official sources said. The mob went on a rampage, demanding immediate action against the security personnel involved in the killing of the 13 people, they said. Videos of the vandalism went viral on social media even as the authorities imposed a ban on internet services in the district.

Four fresh COVID-19 deaths reported in Andhra Pradesh
The latest bulletin showed a total of 20,73,730 positives, 20,57,156 recoveries and 14,452 deaths in the state so far. The number of active cases slid slightly to 2,122, the bulletin said. Chittoor district reported 30, Visakhapatnam 20, West Godavari 18, Guntur 16, Krishna and East Godavari 14 each, Anantapuramu 12 and SPS Nellore 10 fresh cases. The remaining five districts registered less than 10 new cases each. Guntur district reported two more Covid-19 deaths, Krishna and Chittoor one each in a day.

Uttarakhand government launches random testing
Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Sunday said the state government would be launching random testing against COVID-19 with a target of 25,000 tests daily, in view of precautionary measures taken by the government in the wake of the new Omricron variant of coronavirus. “The state government is on full alert. We have held meetings with a high-power committee and are launching random testing with a target of 25000 tests daily,” Dhami told reporters
Nadda says Prime Minister to inaugurate AIIMS Bilaspur next year
Nadda, also a Rajya Sabha member, congratulated Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur and frontline workers for making the state the first in the country to fully vaccinate 100 per cent of its adult population against COVID-19.
