The Monroe Family YMCA has announced a variety of fitness programs as part of its “Healthy You in 2022” campaign.
Program are available to members and potential members and include a 31-Day Fitness Challenge, Small Group Training and Move To Lose Weight Loss Challenge.
“I am passionate about helping people reach their fitness goals and feel like their best selves,” Karen Turner, healthy living director, said. “I am excited to offer these programs to support our community and give everyone the opportunity to live a healthy lifestyle.”
The 31-Day Fitness Challenge is free to the community. Participants will receive a calendar with daily exercises designed to motivate and encourage physical fitness. Calendars are available at the Member Service Desks at the Monroe Family YMCA.
Small Group Training is led by certified personal trainers to provide guidance in a supportive and energetic environment. Participants can register for a six-week session to help reach personal health goals. Sessions include Iron Girls with Sara, Mom Squad with Erica and Strength Training with Jan. Groups of three to six participants may also design a personalized session with a trainer to execute proper form and alignment, while accessing ability to progress through exercise options. Sessions are scheduled to begin the week of Jan. 9.
Move to Lose Weight Loss Challenge is an eight-week challenge that includes pre- and post-body assessments, weekly weigh-ins and fitness tips and workout opportunities with a certified fitness coach. All participants will receive a T-shirt, and cash prizes will be awarded to the top three places, based on highest body weight percentage lost. Challenge runs Jan. 10 through March 4.
“Our goal is to continue to provide inclusive programs and membership options. We want to be considered the community change agent that people what to support and be a part of. We need to demonstrate impact and that’s why people want to be a part of us these fitness programs will encourage a quality experience with a variety of positive outcomes,” Kristin Irwin, YMCA CEO, said.
