Major League Baseball and the MLB Players Association reached a deal on a new collective bargaining agreement on Thursday afternoon. The owner-imposed lockout is over, some 99 days after it began. The end of the lockout means the return of the business of baseball, and that means that trades and free-agent signings can once again be made. Yes, it is hot stove season again, and we could see another flurry of moves in the coming hours with spring training camps to open this weekend.
Prior to the lockout, seven of CBS Sports’ top 10 free agents had signed with teams. That leaves shortstop Carlos Correa, third baseman Kris Bryant, and first baseman Freddie Freeman as the top names remaining. You can check our entire list here, but some other players worth monitoring include outfielder Seiya Suzuki (who is joining MLB from Japan’s NPB) and closer Kenley Jansen.
Those names all remain on the open market, but things started to move Friday evening. Carlos Rodón signed with the Giants, the Dodgers and Clayton Kershaw came to an agreement and Andrelton Simmons signed a one-year deal with the Cubs.
To help you keep track of the latest in the world of MLB’s transactions, CBS Sports will provide live updates and analysis. Follow along below.

Freeman to Dodgers?
The chances of Freddie Freeman signing with the Dodgers are apparently increasing.
If the Braves lose Freeman, they’ll likely pivot to attempting to acquire Matt Olson from the A’s via trade, though someone like Anthony Rizzo in free agency would also make sense.
On the Dodgers’ end, they are slated to use Max Muncy at first, Chris Taylor at second and probably some sort of rotation at designated hitter. Adding Freeman means he gets first base everyday, but Muncy can handle second and DH duties while Taylor has the versatility to roam on defense.

Mets eye Mahle
The Mets are reportedly trying to trade for Reds starting pitcher Tyler Mahle.
Mahle is 27 years old and two years away from free agency. If the Reds aren’t planning on contending for a playoff spot, they could surely loop in a few more bidders and drive the price up. Mahle was 13-6 with a 3.75 ERA, 1.23 WHIP and 210 strikeouts in 180 innings last season. It was his first year in a rotation full time.
The Mets are set at the top of their rotation with a pair of aces in Jacob deGrom and Max Scherzer. Behind them are mid-rotation veterans Taijuan Walker and Carlos Carrasco. Trevor Williams and Tylor Megill right now would compete for the fifth spot, but Mahle would leap both.
