Beloved Mary Presley, 64, of Kildare, Texas, passed away at home surrounded by her family on Christmas Day, Dec. 25, 2021. Mary was born Sept. 23, 1957, in Springfield, Mass. She attended MacDuffie High School in Springfield and graduated from Hollins College as a history major.
Mary lived in Boston and was employed at the Arnold Arboretum before moving to Texas. She married Thomas Presley of Dallas in 1988, where they lived and raised their girls, Kadie and Layne.
Mary held several marketing and advertising positions throughout her career, working with The Oakley Company, Krause & Young, Dallas Area Rapid Transit, Oakley & Associates, Inc., and Worldwide Media. Mary spent the last 18 years of her career with Citicorp.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Dr. William and Joan Byrnes; and her brother, John Ignatius Byrnes.
Mary is survived by her husband, Thomas Presley of Kildare; daughters Layne Presley (Maria Elana Young) and Kadie Wilson (Steve) and grandson West, all of California; stepchildren Phillip Presley (Gladys) and Beth Lee (Jason), both of Texas; brother William (Jane) of Rockville Center, N.Y.; sisters Josephine Gerweck (Thomas) of Longmeadow, Mass., Cecilia Haraty (Richard) of Springfield, Patricia Reh (William) of Ashley, Pa., Elizabeth Wright (Daniel) of Longmeadow, and Catherine Grant (James) of Longmeadow; nieces Zo, Rachel, and Emma; and nephews John, William, Samuel, Luke, Peter, Will, and Ned.
A funeral Mass was held on Monday, Jan. 3, at 10 a.m. in Immaculate Conception Church in Jefferson.
The family will hold a private burial.
