VOLUNTEER COACHES NEEDED FOR FALL PREVENTION PROGRAM: Generations is seeking volunteers to be trained to facilitate a fall prevention program for older adults. A Matter of Balance is a nationally recognized, evidence-based fall prevention program. This program is designed to reduce the fear of falling and increase activity levels among older adults. The Matter of Balance Coaches Training will be held on Tuesday, February 15th from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Vincennes University’s Green Activities Center, 120 W Harrison St., Vincennes, IN. The class is free and materials will be provided. For more information on what it means to be a Matter of Balance coach and/or to register for the training, please contact Alma Kramer at 812-888-4527. Seating is limited.

VOLUNTEER COACHES NEEDED FOR CHRONIC DISEASE SELF-MANAGEMENT PROGRAM: Generations is seeking volunteers to be trained to facilitate a chronic disease self-management program for individuals living with chronic health problems such as diabetes, heart disease, respiratory disease, arthritis, etc. Living a Healthy Life with Chronic Conditions is an evidence-based program that was developed by Stanford University and has been showing results for over 30 years. The Living a Health Life with Chronic Conditions Coaches Training will be held at Vincennes University March 7th-10th from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day. HOW CAN YOU MAKE SELF-CARE FOR YOUR HEART EASIER? The trick is to plan ahead. Build heart-healthy activities into your daily self-care routine. Schedule things that are both good for you and important to you. You might want to set aside time to:

• Cook delicious, heart-healthy recipes. Choose some from the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute’s delicious heart-healthy eating website.

• Go for a bike ride, take an online exercise class, or have a family dance party.

• Make that doctor’s appointment you’ve been putting off. Many providers now offer telehealth appointments to make accessing care easier.

• Organize your medications.

Throughout the month of February, we will be sharing Self-Care Tips for Heart Health from the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute, www.hearttruth.gov.

RED CROSS BLOOD DRIVE: The nation’s blood supply is at crisis level. The Red Cross needs your help! During the month of February, donors will receive a $10 Amazon gift card via email for their blood donation. Daviess County blood drive locations and dates:

• February 18th, 2022 – Harvest Community Fellowship – 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.

• February 24th, 2022 – Free Methodist Church – 2 p.m. to 7 p.m.
