National championship team enjoyed impressive support and following

BIG RAPIDS – Jeremy Mishler is the associate vice president for external relationships at Ferris State University.
He was also one of many happy football fans to come back on Sunday at the Ewigleben Ice Arena off the team buses from the national championship game on Saturday in Texas, after Ferris won 58-17 over Valdosta State for the school’s first national football title.
“On this trip, I was providing support for our alumni and fan event,” Mishler said. “Our support was tremendous. We had so many alumni and so many community supporters and students who came down to support our team. We worked at several different events where we were at capacity and beyond.
“For our pregame event, we had close to 700 or 800 people. It was fantastic.”
The two national championships in Division II sports for Ferris with the 2018 men’s basketball team and 2021 football squad, obviously provide internal and external benefits for the university.
“It continues the momentum we have here at Ferris State University of success and a momentum of excellence where we build up the tradition of who we are,” Mishler said. “There’s a great deal of pride after what was really a difficult point in time for everybody (with last year’s COVID-related season cancellation). It makes it that more special.”
Throughout ESPNU’s national telecast of the game, several TV shots were aired of the thousands of Bulldog fans who made the long trip to Texas to watch Ferris.
