obi Davis Baisley Clairisa

SUMMERVILLE, S.C. — Clairisa Ellen Davis Baisley, 33, our beautiful loving daughter, took the hand of her savior Saturday, Aug. 21, 2021.

She was born April 30, 1988, in Warren, the daughter of Mark E. and Mary Hawkes Davis.

Clairisa graduated from Fort Dorchester High School in the Class of 2006. She received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in elementary education from Charleston Southern University.

Clairisa lived in Summerville for the past 19 years, during which she worked as an elementary school teacher and district two administrator for Knightsville Elementary School. She recently was promoted as the assistant principal for Spann Elementary School in Summerville. Her passion was for the literacy of all children, which she worked tirelessly to achieve. She developed many programs for children’s literacy, especially summer reading programs.

Clairisa loved spending time with her family, a good glass of wine and a great book. She also enjoyed watching sports, especially the Pittsburgh Steelers and Clemson Tigers, and loved all things “Charleston and the Low Country.” Her most beloved place to visit and spend time was Sullivan’s Island, S.C.

Growing up, Clairisa enjoyed softball, playing for her high school team as well as traveling teams. She loved all after school activities, including being a cheerleader, volleyball player and assisting with any office-related duties at Fort Dorchester High School. She received varsity letters in each program.

She married the love of her life, Scott Wayne Baisley, on Feb. 22, 2020. The second love of her life, Sullivan Mark Baisley, was born on Aug. 8, 2021. She was a member of Seacoast Church in Summerville.

We would like to thank Charleston Southern University for honoring Clair in the children’s book program, which benefitted both Knightsville and Spann Elementary schools. In addition, we would like to thank Knightsville Elementary school for the development of the Clairisa Davis Baisley Scholarship program. We would like to thank the entire greater Summerville community for the outpouring of love and support. Future plans include dedicating the Knightsville Elementary School library in her memory.

Clairisa was preceded in death by her grandparents, Robert L. and Shirley E. Hawkes, and Arthur W. and Ruth E. Davis.

She is survived by her loving family: husband, Scott of Summerville; son, Sullivan Mark; parents, Mark E. and Mary E. Davis of Arizona; and her beloved sister and best friend (“Davis sisters forever”) Chelsea (Chris) Cook of Charlotte, N.C. She is also survived by many aunts, uncles and cousins.

In loving memory of Clairisa, if you have children or grandchildren, please read to them or consider donating a book to your local elementary school.
