Virginia skill machine gamers return fast following injunction, but tax revenue will not
PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) — Bars, restaurants and convenience store owners say gamers have returned quickly to play skill machines following a judge’s decision to temporarily lift a ban, but what hasn’t returned is the tax revenue for the state and local governments.
A judge’s injunction issued in Greensville Circuit Court puts the so-called skill game ban on hold until a trial set for May. It does nothing to restart regulation that had been overseen by Virginia’s Alcoholic Beverage Control Authority (Virginia ABC).

Portion of Route 690 to temporarily close for bridge replacement project
ISLE OF WIGHT, Va. ( WAVY) — The Virginia Department of Transportation will begin a bridge replacement project by closing a portion of Route 690 on Dec. 13.
Route 690 will be closed to through traffic between Route 460 (Windsor Boulevard/Pruden Boulevard) and Route 606 (Five Forks Road). It will remain closed to through traffic as early as fall 2022.

Suffolk Public Schools still struggling with bus driver shortages; district reinforces COVID safety measures for buses
SUFFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — Suffolk Public Schools is reinforcing safety when it comes to how students get back and forth to school.
Between bus driver vacancies and getting students to school in a timely manner, some children have been sitting three-to-a-seat to prevent them from having to wait for the bus.
