While the month of March is packed full of major releases like Kirby and the Forgotten Land, Rune Factory 5, and Triangle Strategy, April also has several upcoming games, especially for Nintendo Switch players. This year’s video game market hasn’t been constant, considering the major delays from the COVID-19 pandemic. However, as companies catch up, tons of video games will constantly release this year.
While many players are currently occupied with the hype of Elden Ring and Pokémon: Legends of Arceus, they might have to clear up some free time for these April 2022 video game releases. Some of the upcoming April releases are Switch remasters, but this doesn’t mean players shouldn’t give them a chance.
8 LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga Features 300 Playable Characters
Players don’t even have to be LEGO fans to enjoy the installments in the company’s video game series of various popular franchises, like Star Wars and Harry Potter. The LEGO Star Wars video game series is by far their most popular franchise crossover. The sixth entry, LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, is scheduled for an April 5 release on virtually all consoles.
The fifth entry, LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens, is based on the eponymous seventh film in the franchise. On the other hand, The Skywalker Saga focuses on all nine Star Wars film episodes. The game features over 300 playable characters, and Star Wars fans can’t wait to dive in.
7 MLB The Show 22 Had Disappointing Switch Tech Test
Despite this year’s Major League Baseball season being delayed, MLB The Show 22 is still scheduled for an April 5 release. The seventeenth entry in the franchise will make history by releasing on virtually all consoles, a first for the MLB The Show franchise. While Xbox Game Pass subscribers can obtain the game at no cost, Nintendo Switch players were far from satisfied at the Tech Test. “The footage you’re going to see here is much more solid and has a much more solid frame rate than what was available in the Tech Test. We are targeting gameplay at 30 frames per second,” stated Ramone Russel, the brand strategist for MLB The Show.
6 Chrono Cross: The Radical Dreamers Edition Includes 40 Possible Party Members
Chrono Cross: The Radical Dreamers Edition serves as a side-story to the 1995 Square game Chrono Trigger and is a remaster of Chrono Cross. The original 3D models of the game have been improved to HD, and brand new features will also be added. Like Chrono Trigger, time travel between worlds will be a huge aspect of this title. Although this upcoming game improves the party member aspect of Chrono Trigger by including over 40 possible characters. Chrono Cross: The Radical Dreamers Edition is scheduled for release on April 7 on all consoles and PC.

WayForward, the same company that developed Duck Tales: Remastered and various Barbie games, led the development for this Advance Wars reboot, scheduled for release on April 8.
4 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim Is Coming To Switch On April 12
13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim was originally released for the Playstation 4 in September 2020 and is coming to Switch on April 12. The game was initially scheduled for a 2018 release but was delayed until 2020 for the United States after being released in Japan the year before.
13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim was developed by VanillaWare, also known for the PS2 title GrimGrimoire. The game follows the captivating storylines of 13 high school students in 1980s Japan during a war between Mecha and Kaiju. Having to follow 13 protagonists may seem alarming to players at first, but the game draws people in with its appealing visuals.
3 Star Wars: The Force Unleashed Is Being Remastered For Switch
LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga isn’t the only Star Wars video game title coming out in April. An enhanced remaster of the Wii version of Star Wars: The Force Unleashed will be coming to Switch on April 20. The game, which was originally released in 2008 on Playstation 2 and 3 and Xbox 360, was a tremendous best-seller, with over one million copies sold during its release month.
